What’s the brazed rusk/cracker of AKB-3M2?
The rusk/cracker of the battery (Automatic Drilling Wrench) 3M2 is designed to equip pneumatic drilling tongs designed to unfasten, unscrew and make up drill pipes during tripping operations. It’s a wear parts for the drilling tongs, which was made from brazing a carbide comb plate to the rolled steel substrate.
Usually, the substrate of the AKB-3M2 cracker is made of rolled steel 40xN2MA, 40MN2A, 40CRNIMO etc. and the comb cracker made of carbide VK15, VK20, VK20KS etc.
 
What’s the key AKB-3M2/AKB-4?
AKB-3M2/AKB4 is a stationary automatic drilling tong designed for mechanization of the processes of screwing and unscrewing drill pipes and casing pipes during tripping operations. The AKB-3M2 drilling tong is used in drilling oil and gas wells. The AKB-3M2/AKB4 drilling tong is installed on the drilling rig between the winch and the rotor from the side of the drive shaft on the derrick winch block, to which it is attached with bolts.
The composition of the drilling key AKB-3M2/AKB4: key block, column with carriage, remote control and so on.

How to choose the correct carbide grade?
Different clients has different working condition, which refer to different requirement for the rusks/crackers. Generally speaking, VK20 is the most popular carbide used in the drilling process, however, some client prefer using VK15 or VK20KS. You’d better talk to our engineers for your working details and choose the correct tungsten carbide grade for you.
